From the Amplified Version of Sacred Scripture: But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]: they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. (Isaiah 40:31 Amplified)
Please meditate with me on the POWER of that Scripture as we read together this little story from Jamie Buckingham’s book Where Eagles Soar:
…it was the eagle which drew the attention of our guide. We were near the summit of the 7,600 foot mountain, and the eagle was already 10,000 feet above us. And climbing.
That’s what the prophet meant when he said God’s people would mount up with wings as eagles, the tough, dark-skinned Israeli said as he squatted on the pathway, waiting for the rest of the men to catch up. I squatted down beside him, Bedouin fashion, and together we watched the eagle confront the massive storm clouds.
“How high will he go?”, I asked
Over the storm. Twenty-five, thirty thousand feet. He is now beyond his own control. “He locks his wings… here”, he said, pointing at his shoulders, “and rides the wind of God”.
Again he used that magnificent Hebrew word ruach to describe the thermals of the desert. It was the same word King David used in Psalm 51 to describe the Holy Spirit – the breath of God. . .Take not thy ruach from me.
…in the Old Testament, the Spirit of God, the ruach, is anything but gentle. Here it is a roaring wind, howling through canyons and moaning over the mountains. It is the mighty winds of the storms blowing across the wilderness accompanied by flashing lightning and rumbling thunder. It is the hot air thermals rushing upward. And upon it rides the eagle, ascending to unbelievable heights, using the air currents which destroy things on the ground to carry him over the fury of the storm to safety on the other side.
I watched, fascinated, as the eagle circled and ascended until he was but a tiny dot against the onrushing storm. Then he disappeared altogether.
“He fears nothing!”, the guide said as we rose to greet the other men coming down the steep path. “Even though we no longer see him, he can still see us. He can see for 50 miles. He will go so high he will be covered with ice – his head, his wings, everything. Then he descends on the backside of the storm and the ice melts. Who knows, if it were not for the ice, he might just keep going up, touch God and never come down.”
Our guide grinned, stretched and padded off barefooted down the rocky mountain trail.

Oh brothers and sisters, I now know why I felt to type this into my computer many years ago. This is where we are being commanded to soar if we are to finish the race to become manifested Sons and Daughters of God. The innate abilities of the eagles symbolize the call to us to fly high (in the Spirit) above all of the affairs of this fallen earthly realm and even above our own earth, yea our physical bodies with all of its pains and ailments and needs and temptations, to reach God, yea even unto eternal union with Him. Note how the eagle uses the same force (Force) that destroys (the wicked) to take him above the trouble and safely to the other side. He also fears nothing! With the Holy Spirit indwelling us and carrying us above every storm of life, whom or what have we to fear? Why we have the very promise of eternal life in the Presence of the Living God! Yet, in this hour, we are called to overcome and go on unto perfection.
Let us each soberly consider what things there are in our own lives that might be holding us back from the high and lofty ascent to God and the fullness of Him.
The writer of the Letter to the Hebrews puts it so very well: “Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have born testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us.Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
“Just think of Him Who endured from sinners such grievous opposition and bitter hostility against Himself [reckon up and consider it all in comparison to your trials], so that you may not grow weary or exhausted, losing heart and relaxing and fainting in your minds.” (Hebrews 12: 1-3)
How can I ever compare my current trials with those of my LORD?! Here we are, in Tabernacles, hopefully enjoying the final INFUSION of ALL that HE IS. (Please see the prophetic Word in The Feast of Tabernacles publication on this site ). This naturally implies that all that is NOT of Him is going out of us as He comes in within His FULLNESS, and here in this powerful Scripture, God tells us to wilfully strip off and throw aside everything that is holding us back from the lofty goal that has been set before us. Fortunately, JESUS left us a Helper Who is able to put things in us and root them out! Let us cry out to Him in this hour for that needed grace that we might be able to take off from our position high in the cliffs (please see The Cliff Dwellers on this site) and fly so high that we lock our own wings, lose control of ourSELVES and are taken by that mighty rauch (the very Winds of God’s Spirit) and (unlike the natural eagle) fly as supernatural eagles… as the wind itself. . .yea as the very Breath of God. There, brothers and sisters, is our completion. This is our calling and the fulfillment of our destiny. We will soar over the storms of life so high that we are oblivious to them altogether as we go commission after commission to reap the final harvest of souls.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (this present life) are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us and for us and conferred on us!
For [even the whole] creation (all nature) waits expectantly and longs earnestly for God’s sons to be made known [waits for the revealing, the disclosing of their sonship]. (Romans 8: 18, 19)
And finally, JESUS Himself minced no words in addressing the sin issue. Let us read this very familiar passage carefully and meditate on it for as long as it takes us to get things in order and feel bright and clean and radiant. . .truly shining as the Sun (Son):
“And if your hand or your foot causes you to stumble and sin, cut it off and throw it away from you; it is better (more profitable and wholesome) for you to enter life maimed or lame than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into everlasting fire.”
“And if your eye causes you to stumble and sin, pluck it out and throw it away from you; it is better (more profitable and wholesome) for you to enter life with only one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the hell (Gehenna)of fire.”
(Brothers and sisters, if you are reading doctrine that does not address sin or the fall, you are reading New Age literature.)
NOW, as we stand clean and free and shining, let us lay hold of this final Promise:
“Take notice! I tell you a mystery (a secret truth, an event decreed by the hidden purpose or counsel of God), We shall not all fall asleep [in death], but we shall all be changed (TRANSFORMED).” (I Cor.15:51)
Hallelujah!
So let us lay hold of that promise and RISE UP as the eagle, lock our wings and ride the ruach!! Amen.
