He Wastes Nothing!

“Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them.”  Selah (ds)  Psalm 139:16

These words in a Psalm of David would indicate that Father knew what would transpire in each of our lives. Although we are given free will, it is my own belief that He knows how we shall choose. It has become so apparent to me in the past few weeks that no matter what happens to us in our lives, no matter what kind of sickness, pain, mistake, tragedy, or triumph occurs, He has a PLAN for it. Nothing is disposed of as unneeded in Father’s economy!! Each little thing is of great value to Him as He fashions us for His eternal plan of the ages.

I was walking out of a grocery store pushing my cart on a Sunday afternoon just eight days ago when a young man barged against me with his whole body. The impact was so intense that it left me in great pain and my head was spinning. He was with three others, and they all just very rapidly continued on their way to the parking lot. I said, “That really hurt!” I followed them and took down the license plate number and hurried home to call the police who said they would have to prove “intent.” I thought how ridiculous. How does that differ from someone accidentally rear ending my car and damaging it!? The officer was very sympathetic and gave me his name. As my head was pounding, I told him that I would call him back if I ended up in the emergency room with a concussion. (I am extremely prone to head injuries.)

Then the following Tuesday I was again pushing a small lightweight cart with little plastic baskets rather than the big metal carts. As I approached my car, I realized that I had passed the ramp, and there was a small curb to descend to get to the passenger side of my car where I wished to place my groceries. I inched over the curb, but since I had some very heavy items, they lurched forward rolling my cart upside down, and I flew over with it! What a tragic mess! Fortunately this time there were some nice young men available to help me up, reassemble my groceries, and make sure that I was all right to drive home. I was stunned and saw a large goose egg on my right shin with pains radiating down that leg. I drove home safely, but by the time I pulled into my garage I knew that I was in trouble. As most of you know, I have severe fibromyalgia, and the muscles along my spine began to throb, my neck stiffened, and a headache had started. I asked the LORD for strength and prepared my dinner and ate. As I was eating, I realized that my vision had begun to blur. This all spelled trouble, and I emailed a couple of friends for prayer as I knew I could be headed for a flare such as the one which had me bedridden and in a wheelchair about three winters ago. One friend emailed back that I needed to be seen by a doctor and possibly given a muscle relaxant to ward off a fibro-flare. I conceded to call a nurse help line and spoke with an RN who asked me many questions. Her conclusion was that I needed to be seen. Thus, I threw a few things together and drove across the street to the ER.

It was midnight, and the whole place smelled of alcohol. The receptionist said that it was a “typical summer night.” I was disgusted by the whole scene. They placed me in a gown and bedded me down in a cubicle fairly quickly, but one of our ER doctors had died mysteriously just days prior so they were short handed and way behind. A cardiac case was in the cubicle next to me with about ten people around him. I lay there alone, tried to read a publication, but my head was pounding so badly that it was impossible. I knew it was probably a mild concussion and was very ready for any kind of narcotic that they might have to offer me. Very suddenly, I had a vision of myself at home in my condominium in my OWN bed with five beams of Light (GRACE!) streaming down upon me, and I KNEW Father was telling me that HE would be my Physician. Immediately my headache went away! I rose up and slowly walked around my bed. I had improved! Elated I went to the receptionist and told her that I was feeling better and as it was 3:00 AM, I felt I would be better off to go home and get a good night’s sleep. I had to sign a paper, and then I dressed and drove home. The next day I had NO pain. Although I greatly rejoiced in this, there was the lingering thought that very possibly it would set in the following day as is often the case with fibromyalgia. Nothing again!! Oh praise God! This was surely a MIRACLE. By His stripes He had healed me!!!

The Word of the LORD to me concerning the first situation with the young man barging into me was that I had failed in some measure to put on the full armor of God. He had me read over Ephesians 6 and contemplate where I had fallen short. Had I been praying without ceasing at that moment? Well, no I had not. I was hungry, tired, and thinking about dinner! Had I pleaded the Blood of JESUS over myself prior to leaving my home? NO. Did I think that the enemy was ignoring me? Well, no, especially not in this critical hour!! In other words, I had some need of improvement in all of these areas. I had to ABIDE in HIM every single moment so as not to miss a beat. Perhaps I should have gone through a different line to check out and I would have avoided these noxious young men who needed my prayers! I had not been listening closely!! “Be alert,” said the LORD. “Always BE ALERT!” I Corinthians 16:13 says, “Be alert and on your guard: stand firm in our faith.” In Ephesians 6:18 we read “Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To the end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).” Hmmm. Let us TAKE HEED. Essentially Father was warning me to go slowly and cautiously, listening intently, praying, and to be CARE-FULL.

Just a few days following my two episodes, I heard from my dear master web servant Tim Moores. His story is not unlike my own, and I quote directly from his email:

Deanna and I and Elissa (his wife and one daughter …ds ) went for a walk around the neighborhood for some needed exercise and as I was looking at a house to my right I ran smack into a sign post. I came away with a small cut and goose egg over my left eyebrow. Obviously the girls had a hard time not laughing as it must have looked like something straight out of Laurel and Hardy, but it hurt enough to make my eyes water. My wife apologized for laughing and for not warning me sooner, but I assured her it was not her fault, as ALL things are from my Father’s hand and I completely understood that it would be a funny sight to behold.Wow! What a mighty and meaty Word that is! May we each TAKE HEED. Our Father wastes no opportunity to train us in His ways!! Thank you for listening and sharing with us Tim!

“Anyway, I believe the Father is telling me to ‘Keep your eyes straight ahead. Don’t turn to the left or to the right or get distracted by things of this world in your peripheral vision, or you will run into the sign posts and be hurt rather than guided by them.’”

Another man called after a divorce that followed the prolonged unfaithfulness of his wife. She had been infertile, and so no children were involved. He was telling me that he felt he had wasted ten years of his life. He had lost half of all that he had worked so hard for. My spirit leaped, and I said, ” No you have not; God does not waste anything. Think of all of the lessons you have learned and all of the wisdom you have gained. You also had some lovely years together. You knew love.” He was encouraged and never said another word. He had felt the anointing on that brief utterance, and it gave him a measure of peace.

Through my website I was reunited with a sister in Christ who had moved out of the area. She used to work as an interior designer and taught Christ centered classes on floral arranging, crafts, decorating, and so forth. She had then gone to work for Good Samaritan Ministries specializing in rape, and was working in battered women’s centers, presenting group counseling and educational sessions for rape victims and had written several books on this topic. Why? She had been the victim of a horrible rape that had severe emotional consequences for her over many years. She had even admitted herself to a mental hospital for a brief period! I had never known about this as a spirit of shame had enshrouded her. Through Good Samaritan she had learned forgiveness and had been set free. What fruit has come from a dreadful experience!! How she is now leading many women and perpetrators to the LORD! Has Father wasted an ounce of this sister’s life? NO! NO! NO! (See Beyond Our Control-Rape by Leila Rae Sommerfield.)

Another sister took on two very dysfunctional step children when she married a little later in life. As we all know step-parenting at its best is very difficult! But oh my how the LORD raised her up to do a fantastic job with these children whom she loves as her very own! She too is a writer, an artist, public speaker, and life coach and has used all of the experiences contingent with step-parenting in her materials. Once again, Father wasted nothing, and she and her husband now have a wonderful young man and woman who are functional as the fruit of her (their) labors. Please see kathy@fluentlifecoaching.com. What ministers of the Gospel the LORD raises up through adversity!! And how personally thrilled I am to have these precious saints as dear close friends!! I have been blessed to know Kathy for about eighteen years. Thank You JESUS!

Of course I could go on and on, and even now you are thinking of all of your experiences that Father has used for your growth and the empowerment or even salvation of others. I would dearly love to hear some of these testimonies and so look forward to hearing from you. Let us end this blog with a praise celebration for our GOD and His infinite LOVE for us!! How wise a Father is He Who trains us in the way we should go!! We love You Father, praise you, and lift Your Name to the highest heavens. Amen!!
